Back before Christmas local racing mainstay Rob Suydam of Virginia Beach Velo decided it was time to upgrade his trusty Cannondale Caad4.
Rather than go with some super tricked out (and super pricy) carbon fiber wonder bike he decided to stick with a proven formula and go with the current incarnation of Cannondale’s aluminum race frame.
To get just a frame and build it up exactly like he wanted he had to wait over two months for Cannondale to make a frame just for him. The wait was worth it and his new bike turned out great.

This is what Rob has to say about his new race machine.
“Having raced the 2001 CAAD 4 for so many years, the improvements in the new CAAD 9 frame were unexpectedly significant. The frame is much more stiff and responsive, and the steering seems to be more agile. But to be honest, the two things I like most about it are how it looks and it’s made in the USA.”
