A couple weeks ago, a good friend of Andy’s named JR came in looking for a reliable yet simple commuter bike. The main cause of his search was to use it to go to and from work. After some discussion and contemplation, he came to a decision; he chose the Surly Crosscheck. To keep JR’s clothing clean as he commuted to and from work, we put the Civia Calhoun Fenders to keep away the elements that bicycle tires more often then none kick up at their riders. While some commuting bikes can become rather complicated, and aspiring to address the want of simplicity; we made JR’s Crosscheck a 1 Speed with a FSA Metropolis crankset. As a finishing touch, as well as another factor to address simplicity; we put riser handlebars and a WTB Saddle.  All in all, JR’s Surly Crosscheck cost him only $950 dollars.
