Last nights racing was a blast as expected. A few new faces and and most of the usual suspects came out.

Johnny Phan posted the best 1 lap time for the opening event edging out CBC mechanic Ian Marcuse.

In the A class scratch race Stephen Mull of Richmond Velo Sport got away with CBC co-owner Tim and mechanic Andrew Troy. Before long the managed to lap the field. Andrew smoked them in the sprint relegating Tim and Stephen to 2nd and 3rd.

In the B scratch race RVS rider Jonathan Martinez showed his cards early winning his first track race ever. I was able to jump out from the field and take second while Kevin Legaspi held on for third. Kevin just moved up from C to B this week… great job Kevin!

In the C race Carlton Stadler proved that once you have it you never truly lose it. Back in the day Carlton was one of the fastest guys around. Work, kids, and life can sometimes slow you down for 15 years. Not a bad first race back. Cam Dinunzio and newcomer Graham Glass rounded out the top three.

The points race is one of the hardest events on the track and here in Richmond nobody can ride it better than Tim. For the 2nd time in as many races Tim made it look easy. By riding straight up smarter than the rest of the field Tim was able to amass 28 points without actually having to ever put out a max effort. An impressive score indeed when you realize that 2nd place only managed 14 points. Ian Marcuse was able to grab 2nd by taking some cues from Tim while Stephen Mull managed 3rd with a showing of brute strength.

I was able to score my first victory of the season in the B points race. I managed to score points in the first three sprints then narrowly beat out the evergreen Dave Clarke of Team Whole Foods by less than a wheel. If the final sprint had gone the other way so would have the overall. I think I owe my victory to the venison and spinach that my wife brought me for lunch. Christian Sheridan rounded out the top 3.

In the C points race Cam and Carlton switched places in the scoring while Graham again rounded out the top three.
