Second Tuesday of the month means track racing!!! Only two race days before the state championships will be in September. We have already booked rain dates for the Monday following each months race should the weather mess things up.

Couple of things to remember this year… there is no Bryan Park crit the same Tuesdays as these races so you have no excuse not to come out.

We will have FREE loaner bikes again this year. LOANER BIKES CAN BE CHECKED OUT AT THE RISE: RICHMOND INDOOR SPORTS EXPERIENCE JUST AROUND THE CORNER FROM THE TRACK. The address is 2300 Oak Lake Boulevard Midlothian, VA 23112.

Virginia track championships are the weekend following the final Tuesday night race in September.

Tuesday night races consist of three categories. A, B, and C.

B and C will each have 3 or 4 short format track races each week.

For the A race we are going to a longer format to make sure you hammer heads will be able to get in at least 40 minutes of race time.

A typical Tuesday night schedule will go like this.

5:00 track opens.
5:30-5:45 optional one lap TT.
5:45-8 normal racing:
A class 20 minute “unknown distance” a crit with no lap board. You hear the bell with one to go.
B and C race
A 24 lap “points race” this is one of the hardest ones out there. If you want a brutal mid week workout this is it.
more B and C races follow.

If you have never raced before have no fear. Track racing is far safer than crit racing a super fun. For the B and C races the events change each week and it’s always interesting. Whether you are a 40k time trial master or a field sprinter these races WILL make you faster.

It’s $10 to race each week.

Next race is August 9th. 5pm at Southside speedway. If you want a loaner bike feel free to shoot me an email with what size you ride so we can be sure to bring one your size. We only have about 10 loaner bikes so if you plan on doing most of the races and want to rip it up at the state championships I suggest getting your own bike. A race ready track bike is surprisingly inexpensive and can easily be had for a whole lot less than those Zipp wheels you had to justify to the spouse last year.
