Yesterday I had one of the best rides I’ve had in years. It’s funny in the last month I’ve fallen in love with cycling again and it’s duew to a few positive experiences. First, I did my first solo century in years on a warm beautiful day. Second, Chris, Josh and I started a chill group ride and had a lot of fun. Finally, yesterday I took my new Salsa Vaya to Pocahontas State Park. It was my first time riding it off road. It couldn’t have been more fun! The bike handled the rough double track of the Fendley Trail loop really well. It’s comfortable, smooth and with the triple ring it took the steep climbs well. I think I will put a knobbier set of tires on it though because it did tend to spin out when doing really steep loose climbs. The day was sunny but cold. The trees were beautiful with the fall colors and I came across very few people which gave me the feeling of the park being mine. I often caught myself smiling and laughing while pushing myself as hard as I could go. I only wish a few of my friends had been there to enjoy it with me.
