A few weeks ago Roberts, our Cannondale rep, informed us that the Hollowgram cranks were still made in the U.S. I was talking with the the owner of our shop Tim, he asked me if the price tag on the cranks was justified. He also mentioned that he has owned his for about 5 years.  My reply was a not so simple YES.

If you think about it, Cannondale Hollowgram cranks are really the least expensive cranks you own. Given the versatility, durability and  even resale value they are certainly worth the money.  The fact that the same two crank arms can be used any BB30 bike whether it is road mountain or cross speaks for itself. Not to mention the same exact two crank arms can be used on any chainring setup from single speed to Campagnolo 11 speed.

These cranks are not so much an upgrade as they are a career investment in cycling that happens to be produced a few states away by some of the most advanced machining processes in the world. Although Tim’s cranks are five years old they are still lighter and more versatile than almost any other crank on the market. Because they are produced by a company that was founded on making technologically advanced products, the Hollowgram cranks were ahead of their time and remain unmatched in the industry.  If Cannondale were to offer refinishing services for their Hollowgram cranks they would be viewed as a one time purchase/investment in cycling rather than a trick product that makes your bike “oh so pro”.
