she-nan-i-gans: 1. secret or dishonest activity or maneuvering 2. silly or high-spirited behavior; mischief
SnowCone #2: Hard racing, curb jumping, stupid crashes, back alley deals, course cutting, “free laps”, cut throat racing, inter team squabbles and a nail biting finish.
What more could you ask for?
B Race:
Newbie local strong man Justin Moyer, launches from 500 meters to hold on for his 2nd win in two races! Congrats Justin!
A Race:
Started with two guys claiming the leader’s jersey, King Dan and Slim Puffins. Puffins looked to have the numerical advantage having several teammates back from National Lampoons Master’s Racing Vacation a.k.a. “the tour of Bahamas” and in good form. What he didn’t count on was the force of Divine Wind or Kamakazi and the legion of minions, King Dan had at his disposal.
Pre Race Press conference quotes:
King Dan: “I made a dumb move last week agreeing to hold hands with Slim, caught lots of grief from the old lady, my brother Mark, but Puffins can be so persuasive!”
Slim Puffins: “I made a smart move last week wooing King into holding hands and crossing the line together. Those Kings can be so gullible.”
Adam Switters: “King and Slim are such girls, I plan to attack them every time they hit the wind and I said it to their face.”
Marc Warner: “Strong is The Divine Wind, it’s presence in me I feel. Expect the expected me from today.”
Sean Carithers: “Slim thinks he’s so strong, cute and cool, I’ll show him.”
Braden Govoni: “These guys are all so stupid. I’m going back to street sprints with the hipsters.”
Mark King: “Puffin is a bird right? I shoot birds.”
Ben Johnson: “It’s been awhile since I’ve raced the road. I thought the roadies would be less painful than triathletes, they’re not, they’re worse.”
The action was fast and furious from the gun. Attack and counter, but never the right combination. For the first time in SnowCone history, a field sprint looked inevitable.
With 5 laps to go, Slim made a desperate move to avoid a sprint and the probable shellacking he would receive from Dan, intent on revenge. Mark King vomited all over himself and quit the race bringing it back together.
This formed the only dangerous break of the race, which looked to go all the way. With 3 laps to go, Marc Warner brings the break within striking distance before fulfilling his divine destiny.
2 laps to go, Team Whole Foods hits the front unaware their man, John “the impossible to drop” Hessian, aka Hesh, is planing a move of his own. Bell lap, and Hesh is going for glory.
But no worries, his own team catches him before the last turn.
Frenchy is leading Puffins with 500, 400, 300 meters to go.
Puffins: “At 250 I heard Dan hit the nitro. It sounds like a small explosion, first place was gone. I was sprinting for second and completely wasted when 12yr old Curtis Winsor goes by at 100meters. OK, hold on to that last points place, 3rd. You got it, you got it, you don’t. Huh? My teammate pips me at the line for 3rd. Nice”
King Dan: “Slim is the best teammate I have. All you got to do is get his wheel, hang on, and win the sprint. Easy. Thanks Slim.”
Despite disputes over free laps, cut corners, cheatin, deals and back stabbing, the results stand. We look to have a real battle for snowCone #3 as rumors are circulating the Kelly boys may show up. We’ll see.
Don’t forget, Go Fast Turn Left starts this weekend. A,B,C road and track races!!

I agree – that’s the best (and most accurate). I’m sitting here reading this with a silly-ass grin on my face (and, no, it’s not gas). Thanks Puff.
