Check out the advice from Velonews’ pro wrench.

Nick, I created and direct a nationally based amateur cycling team, Team TOMS Shoes. I utilize my connections and try to get my guys and gals great deals on products we need, from frames to tires, bars, stems, wheels, helmets and nutritional supplements (the legal kind). When trying to get sponsors, what products do you...

Duathlon Worlds

Two CBC athletes competed in the Duathlon World Championships in Scotland yesterday. Steve Jaddatz finished 8th in the 35-39s and Marty Steigman was in 6th when he flatted. Both had occasion to drink some Scotish beers afterwards.

Germans

When Germans are not plotting world domination, they come up with some weird sporting feats. Messengers and fixies have nothing on these ladies.

Nationals

Congrats are in order for Team CBC rider Mike Fawell. He earned 5th in the National TT last week. That is fifth in the whole country, and the competition is psychotically stiff. Richmonder and group ride legend, Dennis Rainear, who rides for some other team, also made the podium in his more advanced age group....

July 8-10. On top of Grandfather Mountain near Boone, NC , the Scottish gather to eat, drink a lot, and be merry. Part of these games includes an endurance athlete extravaganza. Thursday at 7pm, they host a 5 mile mountain run called The BEAR. The run starts with 800 nervous runners knowing they have a...

Race Report From Buckroe Beach and Old Pointe Olympic Triathlon

On Saturday, Mike Cook and I traveled to Hampton to try out a new Olympic Tri . It was windy, but the temperature was moderate for the start. The swim was a 2 lap ( yes -get out and run down the beach for 30 yards at the halfway point and jump back in) 1...

Several of the Carytown Bike Company multisport crew traveled to Boone, NC for a 4 day triathlon camp. We were hosted by Zap fitness , which is an elite running camp nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains. On day 1, we rode 5O miles up and over Grandfather MTN and followed with a 1 hour...

white lake 1/2 ironman Jeff

White Lake Half race report. Heading into this year’s first Half Iron distance race, all cylinders were firing great. Fitness levels were at record highs thanks to the work put in with Coach Bob. I was excited to test myself at the course this year with the knowledge gained from competing in it last year....

Du nats and Powersprint Tri.

Race Report for Du Natz: How cool is it to realize a goal! I set my sights on winning my age group at the Duathlon National Championships this year, since it was going to be held in my back yard and I was aging up into a new division. Talk about home field advantage, as...

Selling out at Sleepyhole.

The first half or so of the race was pretty aggressive. For the most part everyone took a shot at trying to get into some sort of break. Someone would come back and then someone else would go. Chris was with a few guys off the front in an early break. I made my way...

Sam Hilgartner takes 1st at Poolesville RR

Just got off the phone with Sam Hilgartner who won the cat 4 race today at Poolesville. Some of you may know but if you don’t, it’s a pretty tough course with a gravel section. Sam was able to get into a 3 man breakaway that went with half a lap to go and then...

RACING CANCELED TONIGHT.

Weather wins… it’s raining so that means no track racing. Next week the Bryan Park Criterium series starts so we’ll be switching to some Saturday nights for racing on the speedway. The summer series kicks off Saturday May 22nd.

Murad Memorial Race

This weekend was another successful and fun weekend of racing. The Murad Memorial race was a 7 lap, 56 mile race on really nice roads with a few short, rolling hills in a very opulent part of otherwise dour looking Maryland. Going into the race I knew it was critical to ride at the front...

A mercifully Brief National Duathlon Championship Report

CBC did pretty well with Steve Jaddatz in 9th, me in fourth, and Marty earning yet another national championship, this time in the 50-54 age group. My race went well, it’s just that in my age group 2 guys were a bit better than me and one guy was a lot better. All 4 of...
